From the Principal's Desk
Dear Entrada scholars,
My name is Mrs. Jazmin Polanco and I am the principal of Entrada Academy. It is with great excitement that I welcome our new and our returning students to school this year.
We are in our 8th year of servicing our families and students. Our school is located on the 3rd floor of our shared campus, which houses Intermediate School 217, South Bronx Classical Charter School and us.
Our school day runs from 8:05 – 2:25 on Mondays and the remaining days of the week, the school day is 8:05- 3:40 pm. We are a uniform school as well as adhere to a no cell phone policy that is enforced daily.
Our school team is comprised of Mr. Robert Kowles and Ms. Jill Sinnott, our Assistant Principals, Marcelo Sanchez, Dean of Students, Jenly Castillo and Enrique Roman, Guidance Counselors, Veronica Rivera, our Parent Coordinator as well as our educators and supporting school staff.
We are committed to giving you exciting experiences in learning and wonderful celebratory opportunities that will highlight our school culture of respect, responsibility and determination.
To help us in our efforts to continue providing you with the best quality school resources, we have expanded our partnership with our community based organization, EAST SIDE HOUSE SETTLEMENT, which provides after school academic assistance, extracurricular activities, and a myriad of services for the families.
To celebrate the beginning of our school year, we are having our Entrada kickoff the second week of school and will be calling on several of you to help us in preparing a great program. The purpose of the kick-off is to commemorate the beginning of the new academic year and motivate our school community to create a positive school culture that embraces learning and excellence through respect and responsibility. So keep an eye out for more details!
There are many great things happening at our school that will continue to prepare you to become an outstanding individual in character and academic preparation.
As a result, I want you to enter school every morning with high expectations and a focused mindset on becoming the best student you can be.
I am excited for the opportunity to meet and collaborate with your families during the year as we develop a partnership that will continue to grow throughout your years at Entrada.
So in closing, scholars I wish you all the best in this new school year. Work hard, and see the results of your efforts. A special shout out and challenge to this year’s graduating Class of 2016; Make this year your very best as your efforts will prepare you for High School!!
Educationally yours,
Mrs. Jazmin Rivera Polanco
